From skyscrapers to sandstorms...

Well this weekend as been one of making and cultivating some great friendships, branching far outside my #comfortzone and being well and truly in the moment.

Yesterday I spent some time working on the input content for my first #flipped' lesson ...I will post it when it's complete for those who are even semi-interested 🙈

The evening was all above it experiencing the super diverse and exclusive nightlife that this dynamic city has to offer, whilst forging a new friendship with a lovely fellow teacher, who is beautiful inside and out and getting our Latin groove on! (Please excuse the Avatar-like complexions...it was the fault of the funky lighting🤦🏻‍♀️)

The #intercontinental hotel boasts one of the most magical views of the #Doha skyline, from the comfort of the #Strata lounge 55 floors above the city! The elevator shot to the top in literally seconds, leaving my ears popping and my head rushing...but WHAT A VIEW!!

Extreme driving in the desert! 🌵 🙈

Following a well-deserved lie in, our delightful mentor and friend collected us this morning, complete with picnic lunch and a 4x4 with a full tank of petrol, to embark upon what was to become one of the biggest adventures! We set off on the hour-long journey to #Biskreet, which is just outside of Doha. It is a huge desert area, with a super rough terrain, amazing architecture, a film set (I think from one of the Jedi films) and the most beautiful sea...I know... sea in the middle of the desert..who knew?!

Following an involuntary full body massage, courtesy of the unfortunate terrain and back seat of the car combo, we arrived at our lunch spot. The most starkly beautiful spot, just on the edge of where the white, rough desert, met the crystal blue, sparking sea. We set up, ate, chatted and just took time to be in the moment and take in all of the wonders around us. So, so refreshing and perfectly quiet. No birds singing, traffic, other people... just us three, spending time and soaking up the surroundings. This is definitely something I need to practise more at home, but of course the beauty of the location helped!

In true Lucy fashion however, things didn't quite appear so straightforward finding our way out! Nonetheless, the universe was firmly on our side... we wished for a drivable route to appear to our right, there it appeared! We wondered if there were any ostriches, within a second, a whole host of them wandered past. Hannah found herself stuck at the top of a rock structure she'd climbed on the fil

set... almost immediately, two random men ran up the hill from what appeared like nowhere, and resolved the situation!

Needless to say, it's been an eventful and wonderful weekend...but I am now ready for an early night, ready for the ever-aggressive alarm to destroy my soul at 4.30am once again. But with so much to look forward to this week; starting my intervention, our uni lecturer flying in to visit us, meetings with parents and spending even more time with these incredible children, I won't be annoyed at the alarm for long!

Have a good weekend all and I shall keep you updated as the first #flipped school week progresses 😁
