ABOUT ME

Hi and welcome to my blog! My name is Lucy and I am a primary teacher at an inner-city London school. I have an MA in special educational needs and children's mental health and I'm passionate about raising standards of well-being for both children and teachers both in and out of school.

Teaching, to me, is a real privilege. It gives me not only the chance to inspire and harness the interest of all children, regardless of their background, but to experiment with technology and creativity to find the best ways to encourage them to learn beyond their perceived limitations. These barriers, to me, are crossable when both teachers and children have a balanced mindset and sense of well-being.

Easier said that done? Yup! I couldn't agree more! That is the newly-focussed purpose of this site and blog - to reflect on my own practice and explore the latest research with an open mind, to provide hints and tips to tackle the somewhat hidden pandemic of struggling mental health in schools.

Will I always find gold nuggets to share with you? Can I promise that the occasional emotional venting session will not take place? Probably not! I am authentic in my love for what I do and care for children I work with  -  with that, comes warranted honesty and an open hearted approach. I do proclaim to be an expert - goodness knows I'm far from it! However, I will do my best to trial, review and recommend practical strategies to hopefully make both teaching and learning as stress-free and enjoyable as possible

Thanks for joining me and feel free to connect via my Twitter and Instagram links at the bottom of this page. Sharing is caring :)

Peace out...
